Recycable Wedding Dress

Recycable Wedding Dress, originally uploaded by A!ison.

We have been scouring the web for places that will take my wedding dress. I don't mean the Good Will either. I want to be able to give my wedding dress to a good cause. We found a place that helps women who are battling cancer, have the wedding of their dreams. They're only accepting dresses from 2005 and newer. Found another site that takes wedding dresses and makes burial clothes for infants but they have too many dresses and not enough seamstress'. So if I can't give my dress away, what can I do? Are you ready? I'm so excited! Found a thread on this very topic and got the best idea!

I'm going to make my dress into a Christmas tree skirt. Since no one is willing to take the thing, I might as well use it for something useful! Instead of it hanging in a closet getting dusty and yellow, I can use it every Christmas! The skirt and train will be more than enough. My mom suggested making sachets out of anything left over. Since the bodice is so ornate we will try to make that a throw pillow, something that can adorn a guest room. I will be sure to post pictures of our progress. I can't wait to get started!
