California vs. Florida

California vs. Florida, originally uploaded by A!ison.

I don't get it. In California we buy Florida oranges and in Florida we buy California oranges. Why?

The produce here SUCKS! It's expensive and it is not of good quality. For two and a half weeks now I have not had any fresh produce and my body is freaking out about it. Oh how I long for some sautéd zucchini or a crisp red apple or a huge fresh salad.

So today at Costco I bought all the fresh fruits and vegetables I could get my hands on. Corn on the cob, broccoli, lettuce, asparagus, clementines, peppers. I passed on the oranges. And for dinner I made the biggest salad. It was the best salad I have ever eaten!!

Question, can you freeze fresh broccoli? I'm afraid we won't be able to eat it all and I hate to see it go to waste.

Even the signage in Costco there looks like ours....does that give you a feeling of home???? Yes, you can freeze brocoli.....check via internet if it is better to blanch it first then freeze or to just wash, pat dry and freeze......I think I would choose the latter but probably would look it up first.

Love you gal!!!!! Vic

Lol as I read this I was thinking "she's going to have to eat a lot of produce really fast or freeze it!"

I would recommend cooking the broccoli into a dish and freezing a casserole.
