It sure is awesome to know the Greek's wife and even better to know the Greek's wife's dad!! He got us in to Aquatica Water Park today for free.
We could not have asked for a more pleasant day to go. The sun shone bright and there was a slight breeze in the air.
We paid $15 for a locker ($5 is refundable) and got down to business quickly. Because I wasn't about to bring my iPhone on the rides... I love you blog but no way... I didn't snag any photos of our trip. The stupid part is I DID bring a waterproof camera but it sat at the bottom of my bag in the locker the whole time. ANYWAY, since I have no photos I will rely on the trusty internet to provide you with some visuals. We went on each of these and it's pictured here exactly as it's pictured in my mind. Imagine the Greek's wife, the Captain and me in these photos:
What I would do different is I ever returned:
I would have a small waterproof pouch or container to carry around my neck to hold cash or a credit card. This would make a trip to the very congested lockers unnecessary.
I would wear flip flops. They had shoe "lockers" at almost every ride. This would make going to the bathroom so much less gross. Plus the cement got hot as the day wore on. Feels like I kinda burned the bottoms of my feet!
They allowed a small cooler inside the park. I would pack a lunch along with bottled
water. The food was very expensive and not good. If I didn't feel like fussing with a cooler, I would plan to eat at the Banana Beach Cookout. For $13.99 you can eat once or go all-you-can-eat for $19.99. I paid around $13 for my crappy sandwich!
I would NOT wait in line for their headliner "Dolphin Plunge". We waited about 30 minutes in line (which I'm sure is short considering we went on a Wednesday) to go down a 30 second slide that supposedly makes it seem like you are swimming with dolphins or you can see dolphins while sliding. I don't know. It was dumb. The slide is too fast and too bumpy for you to even care and what are the odds that one of the three dolphins in the tank will be by your slide?
I would still have packed changing clothes. They had a nicely equipped shower/changing area including shampoo and body wash.
Overall it was a great visit. Would spend $100 for a year pass if I knew visitors or local friends would go. The daily pass was $50 so the yearly pass seems like a good deal.
Had big plans to BBQ hamburgers this evening but around 4:00 PM the sky unloaded. Since I do not have a picture of our fun-filled water day, today's picture shows what we had for dinner... can you guess what it was?
