My oxymoron: simple drawstring

I am a filthaphobe. Next to public restrooms, a cheap motel bedspread and the Waffle House, there is nothing nastier than having to lay my purse on the floor when eating out. This *has* happened to me in the past when the chair backs were rounded and no empty seats available. I usually will balance my purse between my ankles and the top of my feet, not very comfortable.

But finally, with the purchase of my new bag, I splurged on this purse hanger. Oh joy! No longer will she be subjected to the filth and grime of food establishments.

So yesterday afternoon I decided to make my new purse hanger a small drawstring bag. What I thought would take me 30 minutes took 2 hours. The worst part is I made THREE bags and none of them were right. So even though I said it took me 2 hours, technically I still had no bag.

Bag #1 was just way too small to work with. I'm working with scrap material here so why fuss with delicate stitches? So bag #2 I made bigger. Problem, I put the drawstrings in backwards. Bag #3, well it's just plain ugly. I tried finishing the edges but the material was so bulky and the edges so small, I might as well have stitched down the middle! It's so embarrassing. I mean, how difficult can a small drawstring bag be?

So after watching She's Crafty's video and getting some creative ideas from my fellow Etsians, I was finally able to make a simple drawstring bag. And it took me 37 minutes.
