Day 14 of 28 Days of Doing - Tiered Trays

28 Days of Doing - The Pinterest Challenge
In an attempt to DO more than PIN, I've challenged myself to 28 days of doing. I'm tackling 28 projects found on Pinterest in 28 days. You can see the entire collection of pins here.

Today's Pin: Tiered Trays with dollar store materials

The Pin's Source: Joy's Hope

The Gist of It All: Use glass candlestick holders and plates found at the dollar store. Glue together, spray paint and voila! you have a nice tiered tray.

  • $0.99 for a glass candlestick holder
  • $0.92 for a pizza pan
  • leftover can of white spray paint I found hidden in the garage
  • E6000 glue that I already had

Hours: 2 hours (24 hours drying time)

My Version of the Project: I searched and searched for round plates (not oblong - I think they're funny looking) and could not find any. I also searched for cheap stove burner covers to make this version of a tiered plate but only found expensive ones. So I settled on a 92 cent pizza pan and made a cake plate instead of a tiered plate.

Notable Comments: The hardest part about this project was waiting for a pause in the rain so I could spray paint. Thanks Tropical Storm Isaac. I also had a hard time keeping the bugs out of the wet paint. Thanks State of Florida.

I am disappointed that I could not find cheap stove burner covers. But because this project is so incredibly simple, I will continue to keep an eye out to make the tiered plates at a later time.

This project took less spray paint, unlike the wooden Easy Cupcake Stands, so I would be inclined to make a few more granted I could find cheap variations of round plates. I think these pieces would be great mixed all together with the easy cupcake stands.
