Day 4 of 28 Days of Doing - Bandanna Dress

28 Days of Doing - The Pinterest Challenge
In an attempt to DO more than PIN, I've challenged myself to 28 days of doing. I'm tackling 28 projects found on Pinterest in 28 days. You can see the entire collection of pins here.

Today's Pin: Bandanna Dress

The Pin's Source: Momtastic

Cost:
  • $2.77 for 3 pack of bandannas
  • $1.79 spool of elastic thread

Hours: 3 hours

My version of the project: I attempted to make an adult-size top... a tube top of sorts.

Remarks: Things I learned making this project:
  1. I can efficiently wind a bobbin BY HAND.
  2. I can change the tension on my bobbin!
  3. I can use the automatic threader on my machine.
Things I learned I cannot do making this project:
  1. I cannot make a bandanna dress to save my life.
After hours of trying to wind and unwind the correct tension on the bobbin and thread the way-too-thick elastic thread through the needle I was ready to sew but I didn't get very far. My sewing machine would not sew for squat! I had extreme nesting problems and the machine would freeze up. I would guess there are tension issues and I was not prepared to damage my machine for a cheap pair of bandannas. So I think it's safe to say this project was a bust.

This is my boy Sammy photobombing the failed bandanna dress photo shoot.
